Rent Letter 2023

God is good! We have good yields! After having an extremely dry summer, only 18 inches of rain during the growing season, which is about ½ of what we normally get, it is reasonable to expect a poor crop. I cannot explain our bountiful yields other than God has blessed us once again. Unfortunately, markets are significantly down from last year. Current price for Corn is $4.44 per bushel. Beans are at $12.48. In comparison, 2022 was $6.75 and $13.50 respectively. The inputs for this crop were much higher for 2023 crop than in 2022. Although we are experiencing good yields, the lower price and higher input cost is making profits tight.

Duck Creek Ag Supply has exceeded expectations for selling to other farmers. The biologicals that we are using from Duck Creek Ag on our own crops has proved to have amazing results. We are trying to make the most of every acre and this new technology is proving to be a positive result in our operation.

We have partnered with Hensley Farms to be more efficient. They are planting all the beans and I am planting all the corn. This makes our equipment more efficient than before. It also allowed us to upgrade to a 24-row high speed planter. This will help us hit the planting window closer to optimum.

In the past, I have had trouble finding good employees. We currently have one guy, Josh, that has been here for four years and a second, Blake, that is right at one year. They are a blessing. Always looking for good people. If you know anyone who wants to farm and do excavation work let me know.

· Alaina has been to Zimbabwe Africa to learn herbal medicine for six months in the spring and now is in Zambia leading the study abroad nursing program for Indiana Wesleyan. She has a passion for missionary work and loves the Lord in all she does.

· Austin works for John Deere and Co. He is currently stationed out of Des Moines, Iowa. He will most likely be returning to farm sometime this next year.

· Ashton is Junior at Purdue University studying Ag Economics. He worked for Meristem Ag this summer. He was known there as the “Super Intern” because he is highly self-motivated.

· Amelia is a Senior in High School this year. Her Volleyball team won the National Championship. She has several opportunities for college and I am hoping she lands on going to Purdue.

· Abram is 7 years old now. He is growing up so fast. He is attending Acton Academy. He is super intelligent and is always asking questions about everything.

· Alilah is 5 years old. She too is growing up too fast. She is becoming very independent and is very smart. She loves to help with everything.

· Dallas –Still love my faith, family, and farm life. I am truly living my dream. I am so excited about our future, possibilities are endless.

I have told all of my kids that they need to work off farm for three years to get life experience. Austin has one more year and then plans to come back home to farm. Although we are thrilled to have him back soon, it is even more important for us to pick up some more ground to farm. Ashton has started to show interest in taking over the Sales and Marketing aspect of our operation. If you know anyone in the area that might want to talk with me about farming their ground, please let me know or pass along my cell number.

Thank you for choosing us to farm your ground. Please feel free to give me a call anytime with questions or concerns.

PS: If any of your information has changed from last year on Tax ID, address, phone numbers, Etc. please send me updated information. Thanks Again!

God Bless,

Dallas, Cassie, and Family
