RENT LETTER 2020

What a year 2020 has been: Covid-19, Election Drama, wildfires out west, riots, stock market crash, and the shutdown. Well, I don’t know about you, but I am ready for a little “Normal” whatever that is.

This crop year has been very good overall. It was looking very bleak all summer, lowest prices seen in many years, cold start during planting, 5 week dry spell after the crop came up, then good water, then dry again from the beginning of August. However, in the end prices have recovered significantly and God has blessed us with yields that are very good overall. It has been a stressful year to say the least.

The trend in our industry is that inputs continue to rise slowly and equipment cost is just out of control. Equipment cost per Purdue University has risen at a rate of 5.94% per year since 2008. So a new 200 hp tractor in 2008 was 135K and today that same tractor is 253K.

The price of corn in the 1970’s only was a few cents less than the price today. This is means to make money we have to make more with every acre. Our farm has and will continue to make this our mission statement. “To make the most of every acre”. We are continuing to invest in technology and equipment to reach that goal and in the end after we do all we can, our success is in God’s Hands.

This year we have been blessed with a decent price and good yields. We appreciate you trusting us to take care of your land. We appreciate your working with us in 2020 crop year and look forward to a great year in 2021!

Dallas Family Note:

· Dad and Karen: Dad still comes out every day and works with me. Karen is still working and keeps saying she is going to retire, but that has not happened yet. Both are tired of being at home with all the Covid-19 stuff going on, ever since this all started, they have not gone out much.

· Cassie, my beautiful wife, is still the most amazing mother and wife. She homeschools, cares for our kids, has a large garden and cans, has 30 head of cattle, brings meals out during the busy seasons, takes care of me and much more. She is truly the glue that holds this family together.

· Alaina is a Senior at Indiana Wesleyan University studying nursing. She is paying for 100% of her education herself. She is at the top of her class and will graduate in May 2021. She plans on working and taking more classes to get her nurse practitioner degree. I can’t believe I am old enough to have a Senior in College kid.

· Austin is at Purdue University and loving his studies. He is a Junior this year. He will be working for John Deere in Kansas this next summer. He bought his first 46 acres of ground late last year and is officially a farmer now. 2020 is his first crop year. That makes him 5th Generation Conrad Farmer.

· Ashton is in his Senior year of High School. He’s taking dual credit classes at Taylor and IWU getting college and high school credit. He has already been accepted at 3 universities and is trying to figure out what he wants to do with his life. He knows he wants to do something with Ag and also ministry of some kind. He helps on the farm anytime he is not doing his schooling and has started a side business detailing high end cars.

· Amelia is a Freshmen in High School this year. She plays volleyball and is homeschooled. She also is part of WRC drama group and performs in plays. She is a huge help to Cassie and is a natural mother helping with the little two. She also has animals onsite from the neighbor that she cars for

every day. During the fall she runs the grain cart runs the grain cart from time to time when I am short help.

· Abram is 4 years old now and is full of energy. We are so blessed to have been able to adopt him. He is super smart and is all about asking questions about everything. He loves coming out with me and getting dirty. He is a super big helper and is in pre-school now at Frankton.

· Alilah is 2 years old. We have had her since she was 8 weeks old. She has grown past all her health problems and is a bundle of joy all the time. The court has terminated her bio-parents’mb` rights and we are starting the process of adopting her now. I admit that she has me wrapped around her finger.

· Dallas – Life is good and I am living the life that I dreamed about since I was very young. I am still working with the youth group from Bethany Christian Church. I am on the Madison County Farm Bureau Board of directors. I am very Blessed to have the church, family, and friends I have. They are very supportive and always help with whatever I am doing.

Finding help has been a difficult since I quit Engineering to full time farm. I have had two great employees for about a year now and is has made a huge difference on the stress level around here. Our excavation business is continuing to be a great co-business to the farming operation. We primary focus on installing drainage systems into farm fields, but also venture out into some other areas to fill the gap at times.

In addition to farming we are also custom spraying about 3500 acres and 2000 acres custom late season nitrogen.

With Austin coming back into the farm soon it is becoming even more important to pick up some more ground to farm. If you know anyone in the area that might want to talk with me about farming there ground please let me know or give him or her cell my number.

Thank you for choosing us to farm your ground. Please feel free to give me a call anytime with questions or concerns.

PS: If any of your information has changed from last year on Tax ID, address, phone numbers, Etc. please send me updated information. Thanks Again!

God Bless,

Dallas
